August 14, 2013, Wednesday Closing the Circle - Manistee to Ludington then home.

Waking up on Wednesday morning knowing that living out of a suitcase is something we can do for at least 7 days. 

Today, we head back to Ludington Michigan on 31 to complete our circle, then home through Holland, Saugatuck, Douglas, Fenville, Allegan, Otsego and Kalamazoo, arriving before noon.  Carol will have a little farther to go after she leaves my house.

We managed to empty another tin of chocolates and drive over 1000 miles.

It has been another great trip.  As always, I appreciate Carol's company and her trusting me to drive her Little Lincoln.

I hope you enjoy our little Circle Tour Blog, again it is a great way to share vacations and vacation photos with others.  Of course, there are so many more things that happen, that you see, or talk about that don't get shared that make a these trips so special.

August 13, 2013, Tuesday Traverse City to Manistee Michigan.

We are doing Highway 22 still on the Circle Tour.  It is cold and windy this morning but sunny and pretty.

Built in 1858, the Grand Traverse Lighthouse served as a beacon for ships passing around the Leelanau Peninsula. In 1972 the building was closed due to light automation and was opened to the public in 1986. The lighthouse sits at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula in the beautiful Leelanau State Park with 1,300 acres of park land including beaches, picnic areas, camping sites, a playground and 8.5 miles of trails.

We come apon Old Mission Lighthouse at Leelanau and then Betsie Lighthouse where we watch two men wind surfing.

This oldest standing structure in Benzie County, built in 1858, marks the all-important entrance to southern end of the Manitou Passage, a once-vital maritime shipping channel.

Didn't really take a very long to get to Manistee Michigan where we checked into our Motel 8.
We settled in and then drove to town and spent the afternoon there, looking and shopping.

We ate dinner at the Boathouse Grill.

Tomorrow we head to Ludington to complete our circle then home.
